Carisa Fillbach, Director
Established in 1996, the Sage Learning Center is locally owned and operated by Carisa Fillbach. Carisa worked and studied as a teacher at Sage since 1997, and has owned and operated Sage Learning Center since 2002. A Bozeman native, Carisa has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Montana State University along with in-depth training using Precision Teaching methods, which have gained wide acceptance throughout the United States and Canada. In addition, Carisa received her dyslexia remediation certification through the Melvin-Smith Learning Center in California under the guidance of Dr. Joan Smith in 2002. The program focused on educating teachers to be effective in providing remedial treatment for children and adults with dyslexia, attention deficit disorder or related learning challenges. Carisa is a Bozeman native and resides in Bozeman with her husband and three girls. Bailey Brubaker, Learning Manager/Teacher Bailey was born and raised on a small family farm in Kalispell, MT. She has been working with students at Sage Learning Center since December of 2015. Her passion has always been working with children, teaching and helping students succeed in their education. Bailey has an A.S in Applied Sciences, B.S. in Early Childhood Education, and a M.S. in Executive Leadership. Bailey enjoys spending time outdoors. Hiking, fishing, camping and racing motocross are her favorite pastimes. She looks forward to working with your child at Sage! Sierra Fischer-Dykman, Teacher/Tutor Sierra is a Bozeman native and comes to Sage with a desire and love for teaching. She is currently pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education and a minor in Spanish. Though she stayed in Bozeman for school, she has ventured off around the world and has taught in Chile, Spain, and Japan. Her love for teaching began as a peer tutor in a high school special education classroom, and she has been hooked on teaching ever since. Outside of teaching, she enjoys playing guitar, hiking with her dogs, and traveling. Sierra is excited to have the opportunity to learn new skills and to develop positive relationships with her students through the Sage learning platform. She believes that students learn best in positive environments and hopes to help her students gain confidence in their skills both inside and outside of school. Sierra looks forward to working with your child at Sage! Katie Maroney, Teacher/Tutor Katie graduated from Montana State University in 2016 with a degree in English Education. Since then, she has taught middle and high school English, preschool, and has worked as a paraprofessional in special education. Katie enjoys being around kids of all ages. While she has loved her time in the classroom, Katie has found more enjoyment in the one-on-one dynamic that tutoring offers. She believes each child learns in their own unique way and that education should never be a “one size fits all.” Katie’s main goal as an educator is to equip students with the tools they need for success in order to gain confidence as learners. She also believes that it is important for students to find enjoyment in their learning. Julie Reynolds, Teacher/Tutor Julie was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri until she was twelve. She attended Belgrade public schools and graduated in 2014. She loves to act and write poetry, as well as tell jokes and learn new things. Before working at Sage, Julie cooked in many restaurants in Bozeman and Gallatin Gateway. She loves food and the relationship it has with community and creativity. Julie hopes to keep what she learned in the kitchen about people and learning modalities as she continues her Secondary English Education at Montana State University. Her hope is to facilitate a classroom where learning is dynamic and dialogic. She has also taken courses in economics and accounting, and appreciates how disciplines can intermingle. The greatest thing about teaching is learning. Each student has something unique to add to any discussion, and it is those interactions and relationships that make us better humans. Julie is looking forward to learning with you! Gail Petch, Teacher/Tutor Gail recently moved from Colorado to Montana to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She retired after 32 years as an elementary classroom teacher, but soon realized that she was not finished helping students learn and grow. She enjoys working at Sage because of the focused one-on-one learning. Her teaching philosophy is to meet students where they are while supporting them in finding the tools needed to reach their goals. To achieve this, she helps students learn how to find answers to questions and express themselves in creative ways to show what they know. Besides spending time with family, Gail loves exploring scenic Montana with her husband. Jess Smith, Teacher/Tutor Jess graduated from Montana State University (MSU) with her BS in Applied Psychology in 2020. She is currently studying for her Masters Degree in Community Health at MSU. She has lived in the Bozeman area all her life and loves spending time with her family and friends outside on a mountain adventure or indoors reading historical nonfiction or watching a fantasy show. Jess struggled in her early school years and grew to love education and learning. She seeks to apply her genuine love of knowledge and her psychology background to the work she does at Sage. In addition to her passion for learning, she loves teaching children, cultivating relationships and helping students gain confidence in academia. |
